Netanyahu Claims Iran Masterminded Two Trump Assassination Attempts: 'They Want Him Dead'
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Iran orchestrated two failed assassination attempts on US President Donald Trump during his 2024 campaign, calling Trump the regime’s top threat to its nuclear ambitions. While US intelligence hasn’t confirmed Iran’s involvement, Netanyahu insisted that proxies were used. Iran denies any role in the alleged plots.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a stunning claim during a Fox News interview Sunday, accusing Iran of orchestrating two failed assassination attempts on US President Donald Trump during his 2024 campaign.
Speaking to anchor Brett Baier amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, Netanyahu framed the alleged attempts as part of Iran's broader strategy to eliminate threats to its nuclear ambitions. “The same regime that chants ‘Death to America’ tried to assassinate President Trump not once, but twice,” Netanyahu stated. “They see him as the greatest obstacle to their pursuit of nuclear weapons.”
The Israeli leader argued that Iran’s actions underscore the urgency of confronting its regime. “Do you want these people to have nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them to your cities?” he asked viewers. “We’re defending ourselves, but in doing so, we’re also defending the world.”
Baier then pressed Netanyahu for details. “You just said Iran tried to assassinate President Trump twice. Do you have intel confirming these attempts were directed by Iran?” “Through proxies, yes,” Netanyahu replied. “Through their intelligence services, yes. They want him dead.”
While US intelligence agencies have not officially linked Iran to the two attempts on Trump’s life in 2024, the former president himself previously hinted at Iranian involvement during a September speech. Netanyahu also quipped that he, too, has been targeted, but emphasized that Iran views Trump as the bigger threat. “They tried to kill me as well,” he said. “But I’m just his junior partner.”
Iran has denied any involvement in the incidents.
Netanyahu's comment came amid Israel's ongoing armed conflict with Iran, in which both countries have launched missile strikes on major cities, military sites, and civilian regions.
Trump's Near-Death Encounters in 2024
Trump survived two assassination attempts last summer. In August, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a bullet grazed his ear, an attack he later called a “miracle” survival. A month later, a heavily armed man was arrested outside Trump International Golf Club in Florida.
