Donald Trump is an American business magnate and a media personality who served as the 45th President of the United States between 2017 and 2021. At a young age, he took over his father's real estate business and turned around the fortunes of the company by building skyscrapers, hotels, casinos and golf courses all around the country. Venturing into the media world, he co-produced and hosted the reality television series The Apprentice from 2004 to 2015.

In 2016, he successfully entered the presidential race as a Republican nominee against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. He became the first US President with no prior military of government service. It was alleged that his election campaign was rigged by Russia and many of his comments and actions have been characterised as racially charged or racist, and many as misogynistic. He is also the only president in the American history to be impeached twice.

Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden but refused to concede, falsely claiming widespread electoral fraud and attempting to overturn the results by pressuring government officials, mounting scores of unsuccessful legal challenges, and obstructing the presidential transition. On January 6, 2021, Trump urged his supporters to march to the Capitol, which they then attacked, resulting in multiple deaths and interrupting the electoral vote count.
